Six Things You Should Do in Texarkana During the Month of December!

We’re headed towards winter, which officially begins December 21, and we’re inching closer and closer to the handful of holidays we get to (or HAVE to, and we’re dreading it) spend with our family. I know that I’m kind of looking forward to spending some extra quality time with the people I’ve been told to socially distance from all year! That doesn’t mean that all the family squabbling at the dinner table will subside, but this year we might actually enjoy the chance to disagree, as long as we’re together. Time with my grandparents has become even more special to me than it already was since I’m finally getting to be around them again and celebrate the joys and pitfalls the year has brought us. As Christmas Eve and Christmas Day slowly drag their feet getting here, let’s enjoy what these days of December have in store for us here in Texarkana! Here are a few events that might interest you...

Christmas at The Perot Concert!

Another fun Texarkana tradition is the annual Christmas at the Perot concert! Join Santa and the Texarkana Symphony Orchestra for an evening everyone in the family will enjoy from this multi-faceted event showcasing a variety of talents and a plethora of amazing music!

Sunday, December 13, 2020, is sure to be a treat! For tickets contact the Perot Theatre Box Office 903-792-4992. The show begins at 4 pm, downtown at the Perot Theatre. Ring in the holidays with some of your favorite Christmas classics!

Perot Holiday Traditions at... You Guessed It… The Perot Theatre!

This one will be a hit with the kids! All day December 19, on the “biggest screen in town,” as described by their Facebook page, the Perot Theatre will show the kid’s classics Frozen, Frozen II, and Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, starting at 10 am, and then on to one of the greatest films of all time, in my very humble opinion, It’s a Wonderful Life, that night at 7 pm.

Perot Holiday Traditions requires tickets which will be $6 to view all three daytime films, and another $6 for the evening film. Food trucks, vendors, crafts, and even Santa Claus himself will be there, so what’s your excuse for not showing up? Plus, according to their Facebook page, there’s a “100% chance of snow on Main Street!” I’m not sure what that’s supposed to mean but believe me, I plan to find out.

Tickets are on sale now! Call 903-792-4992 or pop up at 221 Main Street to purchase your tickets! If nothing else, I’m going to see Santa! Being 22 and broke is just not easy this time of year, even more so in 2020, so I’ll take all the free fun I can get! Plus, who’s more fun than Santa?!

Paint Your Pet Ornament at Redbone Magic Brewing!

For all you pet lovers, what better way to honor your beloved pet than painting their image on a Christmas ornament for them to see… or break… or chew… every time they pass the Christmas tree?! On December 20, you’ll be able to do just that!

This event sounds just downright FUN! Redbone provides the materials; you just show up ready to paint and drink! For more information, you can visit the Redbone Facebook page and hit their events tab!

Christmas Shopping Extravaganza at Fan Fare Gifts

For all you boutique lovers out there, Fan Fare is one of the best we have in Texarkana! They are sweet and personable, they have so many cool things to choose from, and the store is just so dang fun to shop in!

All day Saturday, December 5, they are hosting a super fun, Christmas themed shopping experience and you DON’T want to miss it!

Not only that, but you can even take selfies with Santa and Mrs. Claus! Santa is my homeboy; I will be taking my opportunity to get a selfie with him!

Fan Fare is located at 2315 Richmond Road, Suite 95 in Texarkana, Texas.

Sip, Shop, & Savasana at Prodigy Yoga

For those like me, who can’t even touch their toes, this event may be just what we need. Prodigy Yoga, Texarkana’s only YogaFaith (Christ-centered yoga) studio, is hosting Sip, Shop & Savasana. (Don’t worry… I didn’t know what that meant either, but after some research, I’m convinced I need it in my life.)

This yogi experience will include a time of relaxing guided Nidra at 10 am, so reserve your space. There will also be the opportunity to sip delicious mocktails with Integrative Nutritionist Bren Gonzales from 11 am–2 pm, while you shop an outstanding assortment of stylish athleisure wear, yoga props and mats and wellness body products, including bath bombs, soap, body washes and more.

What’s even more exciting is that a very special gift with purchase will be given to the first 25 shoppers! You’re not going to want to miss this health focused event, so join the fun at 3423 New Boston Road in Texarkana.

Bart Crow Band at 67 Landing

According to their Facebook page, Bart Crow Band loves good music, and they do their best to make good music! Hailing from Austin, Texas, the band is ready to bring the house down on New Year’s Eve with their set at 67 Landing! So, spend your New Year’s Eve listening to incredible music and sipping on expertly crafted drinks!

The show begins at 6 pm and tickets are available on BartCrowMusic.com. Tickets are sold by the table, for $25 a seat. Get ‘em quick, folks! Ring in the New Year with the Bart Crow Band and let’s finally leave 2020 in the rearview!
